The Red Door Corner Store: 70 Mitchell Street Northcote, 3070

The ‘Entertainment Book’ is a real winner. With discounts at fabulous restaurants and cafés galore, getting your $60 back is easy.

An example is the Red Door Corner Store. The deal for this cafe is a free main meal when another of equal or more value is purchased – is that not brilliant?

Located in the lovely Mitchell Street in Northcote and serving breakfast until 3pm in the afternoon, the Red Door Corner Store is strongly adored by locals and it is easy to see why.

Even with front outdoor seating, indoor seating and a gorgeous courtyard with fake grass and an extended roof for shade, I highly recommend attempting to avoid the peak time for lunch on the weekends as this cafe is known to fill up very quickly.

The menu is extensive and with a wide range of choices, there is something for all, including French toast, breakfast tarts, delicious sandwiches and fresh juices.

A couple of weeks ago, we ventured to the Red Door Corner Store for a spot of lunch one Tuesday afternoon. Greeted by friendly faces, we were directed to sit in courtyard out the back and once given a chance to look over the menu, were delighted.

With well sized sandwiches for just $10, knowing we would receive one sandwich for free with the discount from the Entertainment Book was a great prospect.

I ordered the ‘free range chicken sandwich with fresh mango, madras curry and rocket’ and may I just saw that it was absolutely divine. It came out on perfectly toasted and scrumptious grain bread and I devoured it all in an instant. Flavoursome and fresh, I was not at all disappointed with my choice.

My partner then ordered the ‘pulled pork roll with red cabbage and chipotle aioli’ which he also greatly enjoyed.

We shared the ‘hand-cut chips’ and were also immensely pleased with this decision as they were golden perfect in one little basket.

With great service, delectable food and a lovely atmosphere in the sunny courtyard, my partner and I were very happy customers and left with smiles on our faces, content with our meals and eager to return again soon.

If you are in possession of the Entertainment Book, I would highly recommend paying the Red Door Corner Store a visit and even if you don’t, with sandwiches priced at just $10, how can you possibly go wrong?
